SOM-Pulse

Cortex-A53 quad · 4K HDMI · Mali-G31 GPU · Multimedia & Linux SOM

The SOM-Pulse is built around a 64-bit quad-core Cortex-A53 SoC combining a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU (Vulkan 1.0, OpenGL ES 3.2) with a multi-format 4K video engine — delivering rich multimedia, smooth UI rendering and hardware-accelerated video decode in a compact SMARC module. Dual-band Wi-Fi, BLE 5 (via ESP32 co-processor), NB-IoT and a Gigabit Ethernet PHY cover every connectivity scenario. With support for 2 GB or 4 GB of RAM, four USB ports, dual MIPI camera inputs and an HDMI 2.0a output, SOM-Pulse is ideal for digital signage, HMI panels, smart gateways and media appliances in the −40 °C to +85 °C industrial temperature range.

Key features

Why choose the SOM-Pulse

4K60 HDMI 2.0a display output

Drive a 4K display at 60 Hz directly from the module — no external scaler required. Perfect for high-resolution digital signage, HMI panels and video-wall nodes.

Mali-G31 MP2 Bifrost GPU

The first-generation Bifrost architecture brings full Vulkan 1.0, OpenGL ES 3.2 and OpenCL 2.0 support — enabling hardware-accelerated UI compositing, compute shaders and open-source Panfrost driver compatibility on Linux.

Multi-format 4K video engine

Decode H.265 and VP9-10 up to 6K @ 30 fps or H.264 up to 4K @ 30 fps entirely in hardware, with legacy codec support (MPEG-1/2/4, VC-1, AVS) up to 1080p60. Encode H.264 streams up to 4K @ 25 fps for local recording or streaming.

Full wireless stack

Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 / 5 GHz), BLE 5 via integrated ESP32 co-processor and NB-IoT cellular — a complete wireless suite covering local, PAN and wide-area connectivity on a single module.

64-bit quad Cortex-A53 @ 1.5 GHz

Four ARMv8-A cores with 512 KB L2 cache deliver responsive multitasking for Linux applications, real-time sensor data processing and concurrent video analytics workloads — all within a low-thermal-design-power envelope.

Industrial-grade SMARC module

28 nm process efficiency enables fanless operation across the full −40 °C to +85 °C industrial temperature range. SMARC 2.1 pinout simplifies carrier board design with a standard, well-documented connector ecosystem.
